I'm Lovin' It and Weekend Giveaway Winner Announced!

It's Monday y'all!

Two more weeks of school for us before Spring Break.
The kids are getting anxious for a few days off.

And with Spring Break comes vacations. Do you remember your favorite vacation as a kid? I do!!! I was 6 and my aunt and uncle decided to take me to Disney World. I lived in Iowa and they lived in Texas so my parents meet them part way and off I went on an adventure. My aunt was and still is a big fan of Elvis so we stopped in Nashville, then headed to Florida and spent a few days playing on the white sandy beaches, and then Disney World. So much fun! And it was somewhere along the drive that we stopped at a McDonalds where I was able to meet Ronald himself.

So when I saw this file of Ronald in the Treasure Box Designs store, and knew where I could pick up a box in the Silhouette store that looked like a Happy Meal Box, my mind went straight to this project. How awesome is this!!!

But here is my confession - I haven't eaten at a McDonalds in years. My husband and I gave up fast food several years ago and decided that we didn't want to raise our children up on it either. But this project does bring back so many good memories of sharing fries with my brothers and of eating chicken nuggets that were more likely back then to be made out of real chicken. LOL!

So here are some details. The box itself stands about 5 inches tall, 3 inches long and is 2 1/2 inches wide. My Ronald is about 2 1/2 inches tall. I made the title myself in my Silhouette Software. I found some letters I liked and then worked with them until I got the offset to look the way I wanted it to. The edges of my pieces are inked with Memento and Color Box inks. Ronald's cheeks are lightly colored with chalk and then I used my white gel pen to add some detail.

Here is where you can get the files to make one of these as well:

Treasure Box Designs: I'm Lovin' It

Silhouette Store: 3d Meal Box Id #26956

(To get the second layer of the box handles, I did some editing of the file in my software. It takes a bit of patience to get it done, but the effect is worth it.)

Easter Chick and Trendy Twine Giveaway!

Happy Saturday Friends!!!

We have already had an exciting morning in my house. This morning was the trophy ceremony for my oldest son's basketball team. They won both their division and the championship game. Super proud of my son and his team!

But that is not the only exciting news today. Today I am also hosting a giveaway. It starts today and will go on through tomorrow night at midnight.

I have two prizes for you!

Prize #1 is this super cute card - Easter themed - to help you get ready for the upcoming holiday.

This card uses products from both of the companies I design for.

The cut file is from Treasure Box Designs and is called Chocolate Chick. You can get this file for free through Monday. And then watch for a new freebie to be released every Tuesday. The other product I used is one of my all time favorite embellishments - my Trendy Twine. For this card, I used the Totally Pink twine and it is one sweet color!!! You can pick up your
Trendy Twine at Annie's Paper Boutique.

The card is A2 size. The background paper is from Doodlebug Designs Hello Sunshine collection. And the tag and stamp is from My Craft Spot (which has unfortunately closed).

The set includes a mini spool of Watermelon Taffy, Tickled Pink, Limeade, and Pink Limeade!

Thank you Lesley Ann for this awesome prize!

So, how do you win! That is easy!!! Leave a comment here letting me know which prize you'd like to win. You can say Card, Twine, or Either! Lucky Me Mouse!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

(or St. Paddy's Day as I read on one of my favorite grammar sites this morning.)

I don't know about you, but I know every time one of my children has a substitute teacher in class. It seems it is the first thing they tell me about their day. Why? Because it throws off their routines. And it seems that my children have way more substitutes than I ever thought about having. So when we heard that one of my sons was going to have a substitute for over a month, the wondering and dead set in. Would it be a different teacher every day or would the school find a long term substitute teacher. And what kind of a teacher would he or she be?

Well we lucked out!!! My son has a long term sub that I think he would just like to keep!

A good teacher is worth far more than a pot of gold!!!

I sent this card with my son today to give to his substitute teacher to let her know that we truly appreciate what she has done to keep my son engaged and on track over the last 3 weeks.

The cut file on the front is from Treasure Box Designs. It is called Lucky Me. You can find it in the holiday section of the store. The file would make a super cute scrapbook page as well!

The card is A2 size. The background paper is from Doodlebug Design's Happy Go Lucky collection. The stamp is from Verve Stamps Happy Hello set.

Thanks for dropping by today to take a look! I invite you to stop by
my Facebook and Pinterest pages as well.

And then this Saturday (3/21) you will definitely want to come back for a visit. I'll be having a giveaway here and on my Facebook page. There will be two prizes. And I have a sneak peek of one of them for you right now. I'll be giving away a Watermelon Taffy Mini Trendy Twine set.

Easter Chick Treat Sacks!

Hey, Trendy Peeps!!!

All month long we will be spotlighting the Watermelon Trendy Twine and Small Candy Sacks over on the Twine It Up w/ Trendy Twine blog!

The Watermelon Taffy Trendy Twine is such a yummy flavor for Spring and Easter!

Here are some treat sacks that are sure to make anyone smile!

I filled my candy sacks up with Laffy Taffy flavored jelly beans. I made my tag using a retired file from Treasure Box Designs. The Easter chick is from the shirt front of the little boy in the Bobble Buddies Easter file. (It was once a freebie, so you might have it stashed somewhere on your computer.) The tag itself is from a set of tags I found in the Silhouette store and then I gave it an offset layer in my software. After cutting my tag and the pieces for my chick; I inked, chalked, and used my gel pen on the pieces to add dimension. The chick is attached to the tag using foam squares.

The then tied my sacks shut using a piece of the trendy twine and then threaded my tag onto it and finished it off with a bow. Now that all the preliminary work is done, this treat sack will take about 5 minutes reproduce. Super easy if you are making several for class parties and such. Like I said, the chick I used is retired; so just find a file with only a few pieces and give this project a try.

Thanks for stopping in today as always!
I invite you to stop by my  Facebook and Pinterest pages as well.

And next Saturday (3/21) you will definitely want to come by for a visit. I'll be having a giveaway here and on my Facebook page. There will be two prizes. And I have a sneak peek of one of them for you right now. I'll be giving away a Watermelon Taffy Mini Trendy Twine set.

Alrighty then, see you soon!!!

Blessings,

A Chick and His Peep!

I have another set of Easter Gable Boxes to share with you today!

A Chick and His Peep!!!

The chick is part of a Silhouette store file called Easter Bunny w/ Chicks (#76255). The peep is not included in the file, but one can easily be found. I took a gable box (2 1/2" W x 4"L x 5" H) from Annie's Paper Boutique - Home of Trendy Twine - and added four panels around the bottom. The paper I used is from Doodlebug Design's Hello Spring 12x12 paper pack. I then wrapped my box three times using Tickled Pink Trendy Twine, threaded a button onto it, and then tied a bow. The chick was then added using foam squares. The tag was stamped using the Happy Easter stamp from Verve Stamps. This is a great stamp company. I definitely have a wish list for their store. I also cut another peep and used foam squares to attach it as well. The tag was tied to the box using two more pieces of the Tickled Pink Trendy Twine.

I am so glad you stopped in today to take a peek at my gable box. I hope you will leave a comment. I truly enjoy reading them. And I hope you will give some gable boxes a try. I would enjoy seeing your creations as well. You can also find my projects on  Facebook and Pinterest. Have a wonderful day!!!

St. Patty's Bear!

I have super fun news! I have joined the Treasure Box Designs DT. This super fun and very easy card is my first DT post. I'm excited about the new adventure!

I have used the Fall Bear from the $1.00 section of the store. I just swapped his fall leaf for a shamrock. I also made him to sit down instead of stand up.

I always start my cards by putting them together in my Cameo DE software first. I like to get an idea of what they will look like before I even start cutting. And if I don't like what I see on the screen, I usually just scrap the idea or fiddle around with it until I do like it. I decided I wanted my bear to sit instead of stand; so when virtually piecing it together, I just changed up the right and left leg so that the feet would point up. I then removed the fall leaf, found a shamrock, and sized it to fit the way I liked it. Once I was happy on the screen, I cut a piece of #110 white cardstock to make a 4 1/2" square base. I added a background paper from Teresa Collin's Christmas Cottage paper collection. I cut my bear and pieced him together and popped him on the card using foam squares. I then tied my Twisted Lime Trendy Twine around the bottom and stamped on my sentiment. I found the sentiment in a dollar bin last year at a LSS store.

For added dimension on my bear, I used inks, chalks, and my gel pen. The little extras give the piecings a bit more character!

I'm so glad you stopped by today! I hope you will leave a comment as I truly appreciate them and enjoy reading them. You can also find my cards and other projects on my Facebook and Pinterest pages.

Blessings,

Crayon Fun!

I have spent a year designing with My Scrap Chick and I am sad to say it is time to say, "Farewell." Today will be my last post as a DT member for this wonderful company.

But I have this super fun project to end with!

This crayon box is the sweetest. It would make a great teacher gift for teacher appreciation or the end of the school year. You can buy the 3D Crayon Box here. I reduced the size of mine down to 75% of the original file. The tops open up and they can be stuffed with all kinds of goodies. The bases measure just about 2" in diameter. They are about 10" tall from bottom to point, but the actual box is only about 7 3/4" tall.

These 4 are red, blue, yellow, and green; but my daughter is begging me to make her one in pink! You know what I will be doing soon! LOL! I used American Craft cardstock to make these.

I haven't had a chance to list these yet, but they will be for sale in my Etsy shop. If you are interested, the boxes are 1 for $4 plus shipping or 4 for $12 plus shipping. Please leave a comment here or send me a PM through my FB page.

Thank you for stopping by today. I truly appreciate you and I enjoy your comments. You can also find me on Facebook and Pinterest.

Blessings,
