For My Sweet Friend

It's another midway post for
Craftin' Desert Diva's Linky Party!
This week we have a color challenge.
I know that Easter was yesterday, but I want you to know that these sweet chick cards can be used for so much more. The tag on mine says For My Sweet Friend. But these could be given out all spring with a tag that says Hello or Thank You or how about Thinking of You. The opportunity to give a smile with one of these cute 3.5x3.5 cards is endless! The set of spring cards comes with four different designs and the Tiny Tags stamps will give you many options for a sentiment.

For the eyes, I masked off most of a face stamp from the Winter Faces Assortment by Peachy Keen. Masking is a great technique on stamps to only use the portions of a stamp you want. It helps you to use your stamps in a variety of ways that you otherwise would not be able to.
Supplies Used:
My Scrap Chick Cut Files: Spring Faces Cards
Doodlebug Designs: Hello Spring
Trendy Twine: Bubblegum Tafffy
My Craft Spot: Tiny Tags
Peachy Keen Stamps: Winter Faces Assortment
Bazzill: Cardstock

I hope you will join us at Craftin' Desert Divas and enter into the Color Challenge Linky Party! You have until Sunday to enter.
Here are the colors for the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you here again soon. Please leave a comment. I like to know what you think. And if you like what you see, please hit the follower button that we might become friends. I would enjoy stopping by your blog as well!
Blessings!

YOLO!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!!! I hope you are having a great week.

Today I have a project for you using a stamp from

Craftin' Desert Divas!

Who doesn't need a great idea for a cute boy card. If you are anything like me, you know that these are the hardest to come up with.

My sentiment comes from the #Teenage Dream set from the last release.

When I saw this stamp all I could think of was the Olympics a few weeks ago and how Shaun White did not medal at all in Snowboarding when trying for his 4th gold medal because he botched his YOLO. My boys were so disappointed! But I told my boys that what counts is that he tried. Like it is said - You Only Live Once!

I had used this image for some birthday invitations I had made for my son last summer; but I had a couple of the images left over and decided to make this card thinking the image was perfect for this sentiment. The cut file would be a lot of fun to use! This will make a great card for the Tween and Teen years!

Supplies Used:
Craftin' Desert Divas: Teenage Dream stamp set
SVG Cutting Files: Sk8r Boy
Echo Park Paper Co.: Sweet Day
Cardstock base: Hollo's (Local Paper Warehouse)

 Blessings,

PS. Mark your calendars as the next Craftin' Desert Divas Stamp Release is coming soon!

The Chicken Coop's Spring Chick!

Easter is just six days away! I am looking forward to watching my kiddos search for Easter eggs and the time we will have gathered around a table with friends and family! But in all the fun, I will not forget what Easter means to me and my family. It is a celebration of the day my Lord was resurrected from the dead. It is an important time to remember that death has been conquered for those who not only believe in Him; but have asked Him to become their Lord and Savior and have been washed through their own death, burial, resurrection in Baptism. I pray that my friends who do not know Him as Savior will seek Him out this Easter season. I know I will be glad to share the good news with anyone who asks! Many Blessings to you!!!

Today I am sharing an Easter card from My Scrap Chick using the Chicken Coop cut files.

As Easter is just a few day away, I thought I'd share another card for those of you needing last minute ideas. This chick was very easy to put together and would be perfect for any project where you are making multiples. I hope you will give it a try!

 Supplies Used:
My Scrap Chick: Chicken Coop
Doodlebug Design: Hello Spring
The Twinery: Lilac Stripe
My Craft Spot: Tiny Tags
Purple Cardstock from my stash

I hope you will give this last minute card idea a try!

Blessings,

Scrapbook Blessings Club - Guest Designer

Today I am honored to be highlighted over at

As their Guest Designer, I am able to share three of my favorite past projects as well as a bit about my self. Because I was having a hard time choosing just three favorites, I decided to narrow it down to three of my more recent projects.

I will share the post here as it is shared on SBC. Enjoy!!!

Hi, my name is Melissa Miranda and my small space in the crafting world is M Miranda Creations. I am the wife of a minister and we have three precious children.  I thank God for them everyday as they are a huge encouragement to me in all that I do (including playing with paper). I started playing around with scrapbooking many years ago with my old roommate. We were always doing something fun and we both liked to take pictures; so we decided to make a couple of scrapbooks to remember those days. I again tried scrapbooking after my oldest son was born. I think I made it through four or so months and just stopped. Then about five years ago my father in law sent us some Christmas money and my husband let me buy a Cricut. It changed how I looked at paper forever. I found great delight in taking a flat sheet of paper and turning it into a shape using SVG files. I’ve moved on to a different machine since then, but I have never looked back. My craft supplies have grown along with the mess that comes from having them. LOL! But as my supplies have grown so has my joy in creating. I believe that God is the ultimate creator and being made in His image, I have found a way to reflect Him. He inspires me and brings me joy with the beautiful things around me and hopefully I bring joy to my friends and family who receive my creations as well. I most often make 3D items and cards, but sometimes I return to those scrapbooking days and make a LO. I hope you enjoy the projects I am sharing here today. It was hard to choose just three of my favorite projects, so I decided to share some of my more recent projects. I invite you to stop by my blog, FB page, or Pinterest page and have a look around.

Here are my projects:

You can find a short tutorial for my first project here: http://iliketocreate.blogspot.com/2014/03/guest-designing-for-my-craft-spot.html

Favorite technique/tip: I like to add dimension to my projects and I believe there are two ways to effectively do that. The first is by taking an ink pad and a sponge and inking the edges of all the pieces of my cut files before assembling them. I could not craft without my inks. They are a total must have!!! The other way to add dimension is using pop dots or foam tape to create layers. There are a lot of great tutorials on YouTube to help with both of these. Just go to YouTube and do a search and look through the videos until you find the easiest way for you to apply these two dimension building techniques to your projects. I promise you that once you do, you will see a huge difference in the way your cards and other projects look.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you will visit often. I would be glad to make your acquaintance if you would like to hit the Follower button at the top.

Many Blessing to You!

Spring is Hatching!

It is another challenge over at

Challenge #59: No Digi or Stamped Images

Anyone who has followed me for any length of time knows that this challenge is right up my alley as I like to craft with SVG cut files. If I was going to color an image, I would have to break out the crayons or Crayola colored pencils. LOL!

Today's project uses a cut file from SVG Cuts' Cotton Tail Village kit.

Other Supplies:
We R Memory Keepers Cotton Tails paper and cardstock collection
Bling from my stash
Various inks and pop dots for dimension

I enjoy how the pastels in this paper really bring out the beauty of this card. I hope you will give this one a try.

Blessings,

The Spring Rains!

Everyday here feels more and more like spring! For the last two days we had rain and then in the afternoon yesterday the sun came out. It was wonderful. Everything is turning green and I have been able to wear my flip flops a time or two!!!

I have a card I would like to share in honor of all the spring rain.

Almost two week ago I had been a Guest Designer for My Craft Spot. When I made my card for that post, I had also made this one. This one was sent off for a card swap and has been received so I am safe to share it here now.

For the card, I used a cut file from SVG Cuts. It is from the Bunny Hop Kit. I still need to make the 3D bunny from this kit. SVG has great files - go check them out!

Other Supplies Used:

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink and some misc pieces from my scrap bin
Designer Cardstock: Carta Bella - Alphabet Junction
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug - Divine Swirls
Misc: Rhinestone Embellies from HL

Here is a closer look at the sentiment and the dimension and embossing on the cloud.

Here is the other card I made for the GDT spot.

Thank you for stopping by and having a look. I hope you enjoyed your visit. If you would like to be my newest blog friend, please hit the follower button at the top.

Blessings,

Trunk Loads of Wobble!

Wow, it is another Tuesday Action Wobble post.

A couple of weeks ago I made a card using My Scrap Chick's Elephant Belly Box Trio set. It is such a cute set and I really liked how my card turned out. After finishing it though, it struck me that the trunk would look super cute with an Action Wobble on it. So I set out to make another card and this time I have made the box as well.

I made mine for a baby again, but it would be a cute gift for many occasions; especially if there is an elephant lover in your midst. I like these elephants because of those big ole' ears! Just too cute!!! And, of course, I stuck an Action Wobble under her trunk. My daughter thinks it is just terrific that it wobbles. (But she also likes me to go to the Action Wobble blog so she can wobble something I have made along with the wobbling bird on the blog banner. To be five again and so easily entertained!!!)
I should have looked for an svg of a baby rattle or bottle for her hand. The possibilities are endless for dressing up these boxes! (I may still add something before I give it away.)

To make the box, just cut out the pieces and assemble according to the box instructions. Use an Action Wobble to attach the trunk. Add some doodling and a tag tied with Trendy Twine to finish it off.

To make the card just take an A2 card base and attach a piece of designer paper/cardstock of your choice measuring at 5 1/4"x 4". Stamp the tag and sentiment and fussy cut around it (or buy the matching die cut for the stamp set). Take your twine and wrap it around the top front three times, attach your tag and tie a bow. (To keep my tag at the angle I want it to lay, I also add a small pop dot behind it to keep it in place.) Cut out the pieces of the elephant, ink the edges and assemble. (If you are going to add lashes and chalk to the eyes, do that before you begin to assemble the pieces.) Behind the trunk attach your Action Wobble (if you have no Action Wobbles, substitute it with pop dots; but the Action Wobble is fun!!! and you can get a great deal on them from the Royale Shoppe FB store). Then add  pop dots behind the assembled elephant to add dimension and attach it to your card.

Supplies Used:
Action Wobble: Royal Shoppe
My Scrap Chick: Elephant Belly Box Trio
My Mind's Eye: Lost and Found Two Blush (6x6)
American Craft: Cardstock
My Craft Spot: Tiny Tags set
Trendy Twine: Posy twine

Miss Kate Cuttables - Guest Designer

I am so excited to be guest designing today for
What a Super Fun Opportunity!!! There are so many cute files in this store!

It's April and all I can think about is showers. Rain showers, wedding showers, and of course baby showers. So today I want to share with you two Baby Gift Bags that are easy to put together and will look great with a small gift for your next baby shower.

If you have enough paper to match your bag, you could make a card as well. A 3x3 card to tuck inside would be perfect!

Here are the files I am using from MKC:

Other Supplies Used:
SVG Cutting Files: Dinosaur Bag (Bag Only)
Canvas Corp DP: Pink and Ivory Dot Reverse
Color Box Chalk Ink: Chestnut Roan

To make one of your own, cut out the bag and assemble it. Cut out the scalloped circle tag at a size that will fit on the side of the bag from Tags and Background set. (On one of my bags, I did all three layers; and on the other, I just did two layers.) Next size your snail and duck to fit inside the tag layers. Cut and assemble them. Attach the snail/duck to the tag using pop dots and then attach the tag to the side of the bag again using pop dots. The pop dots bring some really fun dimension. Now stuff it with some Paper Crinkle from your local hobby store and your baby gift and there you have it.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I hope you have a happy crafty day!

Blessings!

Trio of Chicks

Today My Scrap Chick is highlighting my Trio of Chicks Easter Card.

(To make sure it is easier for our My Scrap Chick fans to get all the details on making this card, I am pulling it out of its original post here.)

Here are all the details:

Tag and Sentiment Stamp: My Craft Spot - Tiny Tags
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink, Bazzill, and American Craft
Designer Paper: Doodlebug Design's Hello Spring
Action Wobble: Royal Shoppe
Eyes: Peachy Keen Stamps Winter Face Assortment
Twine: Trendy Twine - Strawberry Cupcake, Grape Fizz, and Bubblegum Taffy

To make this card start by cutting a piece of white cardstock 3.5" x 7". Score the cardstock in half to make a 3.5" square card. Next cut out the 3.25" square piece of Designer Paper, but do not attach it to the card base yet. Now cut out the chick svg, ink the pieces, and assemble the bottom of the egg to the chick's face. Glue on the beak. Now you will want to tape off the beak on the Peachy Keen stamp (the penguin face that is 3/4") and ink up only the eyes and brows. Peel the tape and stamp the eyes right above the beak. (The cut file also comes with a set of eyes if you do not have the Peachy Keen stamps.) Now glue on the top of the eggshell. Attach the chick to the left side of the designer paper with your Action Wobble or with pop dots. For the tag, stamp the tag and then the sentiment, fussy cutting around the tag. Take your twine and wrap it around the right side of your DP 3x. Attach your tag to the ends and then tie a bow. Now that all has been assembled, attach the DP to the cardstock and you are done.

Hope you are inspired to make your own set of Easter cards. And if you do create them, please share them with us over at the My Scrap Chick fan FB page! We love to see all of your MSC projects!

Blessings,
