Owls, Apples, and Books Galore! It Must Be Time for School!!!

How about some Lunch Pail cards using files from KaDoodle Bug Designs and Too Cute by Jessica!!!

Kinder is an important year for my baby girl. I think it will be important to encourage her and her teacher! These will be stuffed into her lunch pail or as a way of saying thank you to her teacher.

This cute owl comes from the Back to School Owls file from KBD.

This is from A Raggedy School Year from KBD.

And this apple is from the Back to School Friends file from Too Cute by Jessica.

The background paper is Bo Bunny's Back to Backs Family Is... collection. I used various cardstocks from my scrap bin. It is always nice to have an opportunity to use scraps and these 3 3/4" sq. cards were perfect for it. The stamps are all from Craftin' Desert Divas Simply Said set. The apple card uses the Sweet on You Face Assortment from Peachy Keen Stamps.

Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you will join me on my FB page and Pinterest page as well.

Blessings,

1st Day of Kinder Photo Prop!

I needed a photo prop for my daughter's first day of Kinder
and this is what I came up with.

Isn't she beautiful!!! Ok, I know I am biased.

Here is a close up of the prop:

To make this I used the apple from the Apple Card at My Scrap Chick. The stamps are from Graphic 45's ABC Primer set. The black paper is actually Chalkboard paper which made using Colorbox chalk inks on it a breeze. Around the edge of the apple, I used Cranberry Trendy Twine to set off the black from the red border. The cardstock is American Craft.

Thinking of You and a Request!

Some cards are harder to make, not because the file is difficult, but because of the reason it must be sent. When the heart feels sorrow, the words needed are not always easy to come by.

Life has hard times and the reasons why are not always easy to come by. I made this card to send to my loved ones who are in the midst of a struggle.  And I am going to ask each of you who reads this to offer a prayer on behalf of my loved ones. I need you to pray for Forrest and his family. Two weeks ago yesterday Forrest was in a severe auto accident. He lays in the trauma unit fighting for his life. His father and the rest of the family have struggled with him, all of them fighting and hoping for his life. It is times likes these when someone who knows God the Father leans on His promises. Three verses come to mind - Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Psalm 46 - God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging..., and Psalm 23 and specifically vs. 4 - Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

I ask again that you pray for my loved ones! I ask that your pray for a miracle, for recovery, for healing, and for peace and comfort for the hearts of those who sit next to Forrest struggling with him. I am going to ask you to pray even if you do not usually do so - even if you do not believe in my God, I ask you to pray to Him anyway. He will know that you pray on behalf of me and my loved ones! I ask this because I believe and because I know He has the power to heal. Thank you!!!

Here is the card I have made to send.

I know that a card could never convey the depths of my feelings at a time like this; but I will trust that the Lord will send my love and my prayers along with it.

The card is the Sunflower Greetings card from My Scrap Chick. I used a sentiment from My Craft Spot and the background paper is G45.

Thank you for reading this and for praying.

Blessings,

Now are you ready for my sneak peek!!!

Today we are showcasing Capture The Good Times.

For my project, I have used the Life is Like a Camera... and Capture the Moment... sentiments. As soon as I saw these sentiments, I knew they needed something special to showcase them. And with a bit of help from SVG Cuts and My Mind's Eye, I think it all worked out.

I have made the Ribbon Board and the Instant Camera Box from SVG Cuts. For both projects, I reduced the size of the files. The ribbon board is just about 6x6 and the photos on it are the 2x3 wallet sized prints from Walgreens. The paper is from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found - Union Square 6x6 paper pad.

I wanted to make the Instant Camera Box just big enough to hold the 4x4 Instagram prints from Walgreens. At 39 cents a print, they are a bit expensive to do a lot; but so much fun! I want to say that I reduced the size of the box to 65.5% of its original size.

I made both of these projects for my husband as he loves looking through the pictures I take of our kiddos. I printed off about 35 photos to stick in there and will do some more later as there is still room in the box. It would be a great gift for dads and grandparents alike!!!

Here are some close-ups of the sentiments.

Fall is Soon Upon Us!

Well September is right around the corner and the leaves will begin their change, so today I am getting ready for all the fall beauty. I have made this card to inspire all of you to join us for the KaDoodle Bug Designs Bi-weekly Challenge.

Current Theme: Bears, Bears, Bears!!!

There is just a few more days to enter - through Thursday 8/21.

The KaDoodle Bug Designs file is called Thanksgiving Bears and can be found here.

I flipped him horizontally so that he would face away from the fold in my card and I enlarged him to fit on a standard A2 sized card base. The expression of surprise that his mouth makes, makes me smile! It looks like he is saying, "Oh, it is fall already!" I know my kids are a bit surprised that school is starting soon. Summer came and went pretty fast this year. But that is alright with me as fall is my favorite season to craft for.

The papers I used come from the Doodlebug Design Inc. Happy Harvest 6x6 paper pad. I love the colors in this collection. I am pretty sure that all the cardstock is from American Craft and Tim Holtz, but there may be another brand added in there somewhere. My sentiment is no longer made or sold.

A Caddy of Apples!

Hey, all, today is my first post as a Little Sister at Trendy Twine.
I'm so excited to be sharing my Back to School project with all of you!
My project features the Cranberry Trendy Twine. This is such a fun
and versatile color for so many projects!

My daughter starts Kinder this year
and I thought it would be nice to send her with a caddy of treats!
I think it is important to gain brownie points from the beginning. LOL!

Actually, having been a teacher, I know that it is nice to receive something special on occasion; so I like to send things when I can.

The caddy (tote) and the boxes are from Lori Whitlock. They can be purchased in the Silhouette store or in her store as an SVG. The caddy is called Double-sided Tote Scalloped and the boxes are called Ribbon Tie Favor Box Scalloped. I made my tote just slightly larger and I downsized the boxes to about 75% of the original size to fit in the caddy. After cutting and assembling, the caddy is wrapped on the sides in paper from Reminisce. For the front of the box I used a file from My Scrap Chick called Apple Tree Top. I modified it just a bit in my Silhouette software to make it the right size and to shape the top of the tree line to match the scallops at the top of my paper.

Before attaching the tree and the apples with pop dots, I wrapped the cranberry twine around the box three times and tied it off with a button and a bow. To keep the button from sliding down, I stuck a pop dot under it too. The cranberry twine is the perfect touch for wrapping around the caddy to give some contrast to the paper.

Each box is tied shut with a bit more twine and decorated with an apple. The paper for the striped boxes is from We R Memory Keepers Simply Spring collection. The apple is the same apple that is on the front of the caddy. The stem was taken from another apple in my SVG collection, but to be honest I can't remember which one. Sorry about that. Any stem will do if you decided to make this project though. After stuffing the boxes with treats, you could use a white gel pen to write on the apple letting the teacher know what is inside of each container.

It would be fun to find so many creative things to put in the boxes, but for starters, you could put candy in them as well as small school supplies like paper clips. I know my daughter and I will have a lot of fun figuring out what to put in ours.

Here is a picture of the twine I used. If you would like the cranberry color, you can pick it up at the Trendy Twine store. And while you are there, look for more tasty colors as well as other fun products for your crafty needs.

Thank you for stopping in today. I always look forward to your visits and encouraging comments. I invite you to stop by my FB page as well.

Blessings,

Clowning Around

Craftin' Desert Divas is in the middle of another Linky Party and I am joining in the fun using a cute file from My Scrap Chick.

The theme: A Sketch

This is what I came up with.

Using DP from Bo Bunny and Doodlebug Design, I was able to put together the base of my card. I pieced together my clown using cardstock from Papertrey Ink, Bazzill, and American Crafts. The clown and balloon cut files are from My Scrap Chick. The clown's face is from Peachy Keen Stamps. The sentiment is from Craftin' Desert Divas and is inked to a die shape from Spellbinders. And there are two kinds of Trendy Twine added in the mix as well. The square, clown, sentiment die, and balloons are all attached with pop dots to give dimension. And I finished it off with a bit of doodling with my white gel pen. I will share some of the links with you.

Welcome Sweet Baby

I do not do many scrapbook pages, but I could not help but put this one together for a sweet baby girl born just a couple of months ago. Her family is the newest members of our church; and when we had a potluck Sunday to celebrate this baby girl, I wanted something special.

Like I said, though, I do not put together many scrapbook pages; so I got a bit of help from SVG Cuts. This scrapbook page comes from the Tiny Miracle SVG Kit.

For my papers, I used Doodlebug Design's Sugar Shoppe. I really like all the patterns in this paper collection. The yellow cardstock is from Bazzill and the pink is from my scrap bin.

The stamps are from the Technique Tuesday set called Sweet Baby. I picked it up when the Archiver's stores were going out of business. I really like the fonts on both stamps I used.

I am excited you stopped by today. I invite you to stop by my FB page,

Vintage Santa!

It is challenge time at Simply Create Too!

Challenge #67 Theme: Old/Vintage

Well I know July is over, but I couldn't help but to reach for this vintage Santa stamp that I have when I saw the theme. It is a Tim Holtz stamp called Santa Letter and is part of his Stamper's Anonymous collection.

I stamped the image onto a piece of Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream cardstock using the Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink. I then lined up the Spellbinder's Labels Four die over the image and cut it out. I then sponged the edges with more Tea Dye Distress Ink. After punching a hole in the top, I threaded through some ribbon from my stash. It was that easy!

I made a set of four.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look!
