Soccer!

My 8 year old loves to play soccer and this past Saturday was the championship game. His team had gone undefeated all season until this game. Sadly we lost. But the year of soccer was one of our best experiences. We had a wonderful coach; so when some of the moms asked if I could make thank you cards for him and his two assistants, of course, I said yes.

I saw a card on Pinterest a while back, and it came to mind when I started this card.

Using the Hexagon Shaped Card file from KaDoodle Bug Designs, I cut several hexagon shapes with my Cameo in black and white. I pieced them together on a piece of orange cardstock (our team colors where orange, white, and black) to give it the look of a soccer ball, but I needed it to be round of course. I grabbed my Standard Large Circle dies from Spellbinders and centered one of them over my shape. I ran that through my Cuttlebug and came out with a soccer ball. I was extremely pleased with how it turned out! Once I had my soccer shape, I had to come up with a card base. I had recently won a $50 gift certificate to The Flying Unicorn online store from Word Art Wednesday. I used it to order several packs of Graphic 45 paper, so I broke out the Good Ol' Sport 8x8 paper pack and found this background paper that matched my orange cardstock. I matted the paper on another piece of orange cardstock and then wrapped some thread around the them. I attached the matted background to my card base then. I used pop dots to add my soccer ball. I again grabbed a Spellbinders die - this time the Nested Pennants and cut out the flag die. On that I stamped the Thank You sentiment from Jaded Blossom's Simple Sayings stamp set and added it to the card. I truly like how the finished card turned out and I appreciate the inspiration I found on Pinterest.

Blast from the Past - My Craft Spot!

My Craft Spot is hosting a challenge this week called

This challenge calls for you to share one of your favorite projects you have ever made using a My Craft Spot products. It was hard for me to choose just one as I really like my 'My Craft Spot' stamps and find myself using them more and more. But I finally chose one that I made this last May.

The post is titled "School's Out" and the card uses the "You're the best" sentiment from the Big Sentiments 2 stamp set. I love this set. The font is fantastic and the size of the stamps make a big statement! For this card, I wanted a chalkboard affect, so I used chalkboard paper and white ink.

For all the details on this card, you can find my original post here.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you will stop by my FB page
and Pinterest page as well!

On Your Wedding Day!

Simply Create Too has another challenge starting today.

It runs for 2 weeks and you can make a card or other project for any special occasion.

I decided to make a wedding card:

Any of you who visit me regularly know that I am not a stamper, but I gave it a try on this card anyway. Using the Wedding Wishes stamp set from Jaded Blossom, I stamped both the image and the sentiment on the front of this 4x4 card. I have a lot to learn as you can see. I think my ink pad is either drying up or that I did not press hard enough to get good coverage onto my image before stamping; but I still like the card. I think the image is beautiful! And this set of stamps will make giving cards for weddings very easy!!! I used Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream cardstock for the base and the background for the image. The black cardstock came from my scraps. I inked the image with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you will join us for the challenge. And maybe you veteran stampers could share with me some tips. LOL!

Many Blessings,

The Witches Come Out to Play!

It is that time of year when the witches come out to play!!!

I have another project for you using a KaDoodle Bug Designs file.

Again I have used the No Place Like Home file. The wicked witch doesn't look so wicked anymore! She just needed a bit of a makeover.

The background paper used for this card is old and I have no idea what it is called or who made it. I had bought a monthly kit from Taylored Expressions forever ago and it was one of the papers in it. In fact, I had put this card base together last year when I was doing another Halloween project and did not use it. When going through things in my stash the other day, I saw it and it was begging to be finished. I also went through a bag of simple die cuts that has been laying around from past projects and found the spider web. I think the cut for it came from MKC, but I can't be certain. So this is what I do know, the droopy goo die is from Martha Stewart. The button with the spider at the top is from the $1 bin at Pat Catan's (local craft store). And the cute witch is from KaDoodle Bug Designs and she was pieced together late Wednesday night. Too late in fact!!! LOL!!!!!!

I used my Cameo to cut all the pieces, inked them with Memento and Papertrey Inks inks, and pieced her together. I finished her off with some doodling and a sweet Peachy Keen face. She was adhered to the card using pop dots as was the button. The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps - the Bewitched set. And if I might say so myself, she turned out so very cute!!! I love what Peachy Keen faces do for my piecings!!!

Supplies Used:
KaDoodle Bug Designs: No Place Like Home
Martha Stewart: Drippy Goo Border
Various Cardstocks and DP from my Scrap Stash
Memento and Papertrey Ink
White Gel Pen, Black Micron Marker, and MS and EK Success colored pencils

Alright, now head on over to KaDoodle Bug Designs and see what you can pick up from Melissa's store to complete your Halloween projects. I know there has been a bunch of cute fall and Halloween files released in the last day or so.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will pop in at my FB page and Pinterest page as well!

So Thankful for You!

It is Fall Y'all! Or at least it feels like it in my part of the country. Temps are in the 60's and the leaves are starting to change colors.

Today, I have a card for you using a file from KaDoodle Bug Designs called No Place Like Home.
I had to take the scarecrow off of the Yellow Brick Road.

The card is a basic A2 size with a background paper from Doodlebug's Happy Harvest from 2013. I enlarged the scarecrow in my Silhouette DE software to fit the front. As I cut the pieces, I inked my edge for that much needed dimension (I can't make a card without doing it!). For the face, I dug through my Peachy Keen face assortments and decided on the Christmas in July Face set. To finish off the scarecrow, I inked the cheeks and added some doodling with my white gel pen.

The sentiment had to be something to reflect fall and I think we always associate fall with gratitude, right?! For this, I die cut a Spellbinders' Scalloped Oval and stamped it using My Craft Spot's Simply Sentiment stamp set. After inking the edge of the die, I added the Chocolate Truffle Trendy Twine bow. Both the scarecrow and the sentiment were then pop dotted to the front of the card.

Supplies Used:
KaDoodle Bug Designs: No Place Like Home
Trendy Twine: Chocolate Truffle
My Craft Spot: Simply Sentiments
Doodlebug Designs: Happy Harvest 6x6 paper pad (2013)
Spellbinders: Scalloped Ovals

Baby Sock Tote

I have a Trendy Twine Little Sister post for you today!

This month we are showcasing the Chocolate Cupcake Trendy Twine and sharing baby projects.

I am very excited about this as I will be hosting a baby shower very soon. This is going to help me brainstorm some ideas.

I decided to make a tote to hold baby socks in. This is my prototype for the shower. I will make several of these for table decorations with a paper choice modification to match the colors of the shower. This tote with the blue, pink, and brown colors would be great if the baby's gender is unknown. My finished project for the shower will use this twine though as we know the baby is a girl!!! I really like the chocolate and pink color combo.

Using a tote from Lori Whitlock, I resized it larger to fit my need. I assembled it and attached the side panels. I then cut out the Floppy Bear file from LSHD and inked it and pieced it together. The Chocolate Cupcake Trendy Twine was wrapped around the caddy three times and tied off with a bow. I pop dotted the bear to the front.

On the back side, I used a Spellbinder's die to cut and emboss a scalloped oval. I added a baby sentiment to the oval from My Craft Spot and inked the edges. This was also attached with pop dots.

To finish it off, I tied a double bow to the handle and added a piece of twine there as well. What a super sweet project and it will not be hard to make the ten or so that I will need!

Princess!

Yes, my daughter is like any other 6 year old and has been smitten by the latest Disney princess movie. For her birthday, a couple of weeks ago, she had to have the dolls.
It was a must!

Well I decided to make this paper piecing that is similar to one of the characters from Too Cute by Jessica for her card. The file is from the Frosty Fairytale Friends Set.

My baby girl liked the card, but she told me the hair is the wrong color. "Mom," she said, "Her hair is not white, it is blonde." My bad!!!

The card is 4x4" square and I used all scraps from my scrap bins to put it together. I like when I have all the right pieces in those bins and I can use it up!!!

The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tag set and the twine is

Floppy Bear

Nothing is better than a sweet freebie!

Little Scraps of Heaven offered a freebie on Wednesday to anybody who would make a project and post it to their site by yesterday. I finished mine just in the knick of time last night and shared it on the LSHD fan page; but I want to share it here with all of you as well!

This little sweetie is called Floppy Bear and even though it is no longer free, it is available in the Little Scraps of Heaven store. It was super easy to piece and oh so adorable. I decided I wanted my bear to be a girl, so I gave her a bow using Totally Natural Trendy Twine. The bear was cut using Tim Holtz Core'dinations and American Craft Cardstock. The background paper is from Doodlebug Designs new fall line called Friendly Forest. I really enjoy the color palette used by this company. So bright and fun!!! I made this a Thank You card using the Jaded Blossom Simple Sayings stamp set.

The bear was inked with Color Box inks with two shades of browns. The eyes and nose were inked with Memento Tuxedo black (Memento is my favorite ink by far). I used some Stamp' UP chalks that I have had forever around the eye and then used my Micron 005 pen to draw lashes. I also chalked the cheeks with some pink. To finish it off and to make the eyes come alive, I used my white Gelly Roll pen to add some details.

Super easy and super cute!!!

Throwback Thursday - Scaredy Cat Says Boo

I decided to do post today for Throwback Thursday. Last September I decided it was time to take crafting to a new level. I decided that I wanted to be more consistent in making projects and to try out for a few design teams. I am super happy that when I put my mind to it, a lot of fun things started happening.

This was the card that I made to push me into a new direction.

Scaredy Cat Says "Boo"

I made this to try out for the DT for My Scrap Chick. Ironically, I missed the email that invited me onto that first MSC DT. I was so bummed. But I have been on the team the last six months and I enjoy working with their files!!!

This card uses the Scaredy Cat file from My Scrap Chick. The background paper and the clock chipboard is G45 and the paper for the pumpkin is SEI. The bat is from a Spellbinders die set. I can't find the stamp I used for the sentiment and I did not mention it on my original post either which is here. This is still one of my favorite cards I ever made. I hope you enjoy it too!

Later this month I will do a post of my Top 10 favorite cards and projects from the last year. I will include a few that I liked a lot and I will consider those that received the most all time views on my blog page. I hope you will join me for the fun.

Thank you for stopping by today!
I invite you to stop by my FB page and Pinterest page as well.

Fright Night Treat Bag!

It is almost that time. Fright Night is coming and the Witches will come out cackling.

Here is a project from made for a Trendy Twine FB hop featuring the Grape Licorice twine and the Cone Treat Bags.

I filled the bag with chocolate covered pomegranates - Yum!!! My whole family loves these chocolates! I tied it off the top with my twine, my tag, a bit of ribbon from HL, and a big button from Bo Bunny. I {heart} big buttons!!!

The tag itself is a file from My Scrap Chick. The Witchy Bear is a cut file from KaDoodle Bug Designs and the sentiment is from Punkin' Patch Stamps but is no longer available. The background paper on the tag is from Graphic 45's new line called An Eerie Tale. This paper is just beautiful! I love the color scheme and this sheet matches the twine so nicely.

These cone treat bags can be used for so many occasions!

You still have time to hop through and see all the great Trendy Twine projects. The winners of the prizes will not be picked until this weekend. The fun starts here -

Kinder Time!

A quick post to share a project that I sneak peeked this last Friday.

I had so much fun making this treat bag for my daughter using some Tiny Kraft Bags from Trendy Twine along with the Cranberry Twine. All of the cut files come from My Scrap Chick's School Paper Easel Card.

After making the treat bag, I wanted to put a special note inside. I used Big Sentiments 2 and Tiny Tags from My Craft Spot to make this note card. Again the cut files are from My Scrap Chick. The twine heart is Midnight Trendy Twine.

Supplies Used:
Trendy Twine: Cranberry and Midnight Twine
Trendy Twine: Tiny Kraft Bags (3 1/4 x 5 1/4")
My Scrap Chick: School Paper Easel Card
